A new Brazilian steakhouse is preparing to open in the vacant restaurant building previously occupied by Crab Du Jour Cajun Seafood Boil and Bar.

Last week, a sign went up on the building at the corner of East Lincoln Highway and Veterans Highway (Route 413) in Middletown Township announcing the arrival of Leblon Steak.

While a representative for Leblon Steak could not be reached as of Tuesday, work appeared to be underway inside the establishment.

Leblon Steak shares a name and logo with a Brazilian steakhouse in Bergen County, New Jersey. The steakhouse was founded by restauranteur Wellington Brito, who also co-founded Flames Brazilian Steakhouse in Belmar, New Jersey.

The sign outside the Middletown Township building indicated that the steakhouse was “coming soon,” but no specific opening date was made public.

Crab Du Jour Cajun Seafood Boil and Bar, which abruptly closed late last year, left the 5,800-square-foot building and 1.65-acre property available for lease or sale.

The location has a listed seating capacity of over 250 customers in its dining room and bar.

Zommick McMahon Commercial Real Estate listed the property at $15,000 per month for lease or $3.35 million for purchase.

The reason for Crab Du Jour’s closure remains unclear, but financial issues are believed to have played a role. Attempts to reach the former operators were unsuccessful.

Crab Du Jour, part of a national chain with several locations in the Philadelphia region, opened its doors in 2021 in the area.

Crab Du Jour replaced the Great American Diner and Pub, which closed in 2019.
