Volunteer firefighters, police officers, and paramedics extricated student actors from wrecked cars, transported them to hospitals, and detained one teen as part of the event.

By the end of the morning, students learned that several of their classmates were “deceased,” one was going before a district judge, and many were “injured,” according to school officials.

As the day progressed, the students who were portrayed as deceased returned to class and were instructed not to communicate or interact with other students.

The student acting as a drunk driver was brought into a local courtroom.

The event was part of the “Just One Life Program” organized by the Bristol Township School District and aimed at highlighting the emotional and physical impacts of distracted and drunk driving.

The simulation moved some students to tears as they observed emergency crews prying open vehicles just steps away.

The staged wreck and following assembly on safety were scheduled ahead of prom season and the approaching summer break.
