Woman Accused Of Striking Hospital Staff With Cane

A Delaware woman is facing charges after an incident at Jefferson Bucks Hospital earlier this week, according to police.

A 61-year-old Clayton, Delaware, woman was taken into custody following a disturbance in the hospital’s emergency room on Monday morning.

Falls Township Police were dispatched to the scene around 6:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a disorderly person.

At the hospital, officers learned from staff that the 61-year-old woman had become aggressive and threw her purse and shoes at employees. She had reportedly attempted to strike a staff member with a closed fist.

The situation escalated when police tried to assist 61-year-old woman, police said.

An officer, who had offered to drive the 61-year-old woman to her mother’s residence, encountered resistance while helping her out of bed.

According to police, the 61-year-old woman threw herself onto the floor and used her cane to hit a hospital staff member.

The woman was charged with aggravated assault and harassment. She was preliminarily arraigned before District Judge Terry Hughes and held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $35,000 bail.
