Prokopiak, a Democrat from Falls Township, won the seat in a special election held on February 13. The election was to fill the remainder of John Galloway’s term after Galloway’s election to serve as a district judge.
The 140th District encompasses Falls Township, Morrisville Borough, Tullytown Borough, and parts of Middletown Township.
Upon swearing in, Prokopiak expressed his readiness to address the concerns of his constituents.

“I am ready to serve the people of the 140th District,” Prokopiak said. “There are many issues important to our residents and our local neighborhoods and I am set to work in Harrisburg toward a solution to these problems.”
Prokopiak and his staff will operate out of the former office of Galloway at 8610 New Falls Road in Falls Township’s Levittown section. The phone number for the office is 215-943-7206, and the representative’s email address is RepProkopiak@pahouse.net.

“Swearing in a new member is always a special occasion in the state House of Representatives,” said Speaker Joanna McClinton, a Democrat who serves Philadelphia and Delaware counties. “As a longtime public servant, Rep. Prokopiak brings with him valuable experience from his time in local government and will be a strong advocate for his neighbors in Bucks County.”
In the coming months, the House will take up measures to reform school funding, cut costs for working families, help seniors thrive in their communities and strengthen public safety, McClinton said.

State Rep. Joe Hogan, a Republican from Middletown Township, welcomed his new colleague to the house. “I want to welcome Jim Prokopiak to the state House,” said Hogan. “I’ve taken pride in finding ways to work with all my colleagues from Bucks County. As we both represent portions of Middletown Township, I am excited that the House is now back in session and look forward to working with Rep. Prokopiak to make Bucks County and Pennsylvania a better place for everyone.”
Prokopiak has degrees from West Chester University and Temple University Beasley School of Law. He has worked as an attorney.

The newly-minted state lawmaker was joined in Harrisburg by his wife, Gail Humphrey, and their three children. Humphrey serves as the deputy COO and chief clerk for Bucks County.
Looking forward, Prokopiak will face elections in the upcoming April primary and November general elections. He will be the sole Democrat on the primary ballot. He is expected to go up against Republican Candace Cabanas, who he defeated in the special election, and who is unchallenged in the Republican primary.
