Around 11:30 a.m. last Friday, a 2018 Peterbilt tanker was using the ramp to I-95/Pennsylvania Turnpike at the Levittown/Bristol interchange in Bristol Township when it overturned on the curve, state police said.

The truck landed on the concrete barriers and traveled for 100 feet before stopping, troopers said.

The tanker’s container was punctured and 3,000 to 4,000 gallons of the waste-related material spilled onto the ramp, state police said.

The driver, a 22-year-old man, from Brockway, Jefferson County, was not seriously injured and refused transport to a hospital. He was checked by medics at the scene.

The spill required an environmental contractor to be called to the scene.

Troopers said the contractor cleaned the area of the spilled material.

The ramp in both directions was closed by state police and Bristol Township Fire Police for approximately three hours.

Troopers said the driver of the tanker was driving at an unsafe speed when he entered the ramp.
