Police officers, firefighters, and ambulance crews were dispatched just past 3 p.m. to a wooded area between the Middletown Country Club and North Pine Street/Langhorne-Newtown Road (Route 413) for a reported injury. The incident happened near the border between Middletown Township and Langhorne Borough.

Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company Chief Frank Farry said a piece of equipment malfunctioned and hit a contractor in the face, causing a serious injury.

The incident happened in an area that was hard to access, Farry said.

Using a police car, crews were able to get to the injured man from the scene in the woods and transport him to a waiting Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad ambulance, Farry said.
