A Montgomery County woman has been arrested and charged with arson after Bristol Township police claim she set a fire inside the township building early Tuesday morning.

Bristol Township Police Department Sgt. Dennis Leighton detected the smell of something burning around 1:30 a.m. in the police department wing of the municipal complex located on Bath Road. Upon investigation, Leighton discovered Alexandra Thomas, 23, of Pennsburg, Montgomery County, sitting on the lobby floor, authorities said.
Police stated that Thomas was “tending to a small fire.”
Authorities reported that Thomas had previous interactions with the police department.

The fire, which was confined to the lobby area, was extinguished, police said.
There were no reports of injuries or significant damage to the building.

Thomas was taken into custody for the fire.
Thomas was charged with arson, institutional vandalism, and disorderly conduct. She was preliminarily arraigned at 4 a.m. by on-call District Judge Lisa Gaier and held on 10 percent of $100,000 bail.
Police said Thomas’ pervious interaction with the department was a summary trespassing charge for an incident at the Fairless Hills CVS. She was in custody approximately an hour before being released.
