According to PennDOT and Gov. Josh Shapiro’s office, Middletown Township is getting $229,008.45 for pedestrian equipment upgrades on the New Falls Road and Woodbourne Road corridors.
The grant is part of a statewide initiative that will distribute approximately $13 million in Automated Red Light Enforcement (ARLE) funding across 35 municipalities. The funding will support 39 safety projects throughout the state.
โThis program helps communities across the state make important investments in traffic flow and safety,โ said PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll.

Bensalem Township and Newtown Township also received funding through the program.
The funding for these projects is sourced from fines collected from red light violations at 34 intersections in Philadelphia. According to state law, only projects that aim to improve safety, enhance mobility, and reduce congestion qualify for this funding.
