The United Way of Bucks County may expand its community assistance efforts with a possible new center in Levittown.

The project presented earlier this month to the Bristol Township Zoning Hearing Board proposes transforming the site currently home to The Capri Bar, which remains operational, and the closed Gabrielle’s Restaurant into a multi-purpose facility offering support to local families in need.
The lot at 5301 Bristol Emilie Road is presently zoned for commercial use.
The United Way’s proposal includes renovating an existing building housing for a HELP Center and replacing a second structure on the lot with a new building designed for office and warehouse space.

The Bristol Township Zoning Hearing Board voted 4-0 to grant variances addressing permitted uses, impervious surface, and off-street parking.
The United Way currently operates a HELP Center on Commerce Circle in Bristol. It says on its website that the center “fills the gap for local families in need by providing essentials like cleaning supplies, personal hygiene items, and home goods โ completely free of charge โ through a dignified personal shopping experience.”
