Around 8:30 p.m., Croydon Fire Company Chief Tom Tryon was informed of a potential fire. The longtime firefighter went to check out the situation and quickly found a shed ablaze in the 800 block of First Avenue, he said.

Several fire companies were called to fight the flames in the shed, which was near several other outbuildings.

Firefighters were able to put out the flames, but the shed was destroyed and another shed nearby suffered minor damage, Tryon said.

No injuries were reported.

Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said the cause of the blaze was most likely candles left burning in the shed.

The shed was being used by the resident to run a business.
