Around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, firefighters were dispatched to the 1200 block of Norton Avenue for a reported blaze.
Third District Fire Company Chief Howard McGoldrick said he arrived two minutes after being dispatched to find a shed fully engulfed by flames.

Crews were able to contain the blaze in about 15 minutes.

“Homeless individuals were reportedly living in the shed, but none were present when police and firefighters arrived,” Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said.

The cause remained under investigation as of Saturday morning, Dippolito said.
The 20-foot by 12-foot shed was slated to be demolished as part of an approved 51-unit senior housing facility that will be constructed at the site.
In addition to the Third District Fire Company, the Edgely and Newportville fire companies responded.
