Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor and SEPTA Regional Rail’s Trenton Line resumed service early Friday afternoon after a temporary suspension.

The hours-long suspension was due to communication issues with signals and switches on the tracks between Philadelphia and New York, Amtrak officials said.

The interruption, which impacted a crucial segment of the Northeast Corridor, began early Friday morning.

Around 12:30 p.m., officials announced that the issue had been resolved and train services on both the Amtrak Northeast Corridor and SEPTA’s Regional Rail Trenton Line had been restored.

The stoppage caused considerable disruptions for rail travelers.

Despite the resumption of service, both Amtrak and SEPTA advised travelers to anticipate delays as the rail network recovers from the earlier suspension.

Passengers are encouraged to check with Amtrak and SEPTA for the latest updates on train schedules and potential delays.
