Minor Flooding Hits Neshaminy Creek; No Major Impacts Reported

Flooding has hit the Neshaminy Creek for the second time in December.

Heavy rain that fell across the region Wednesday into Thursday morning caused the creek to spill its banks in Wrightstown Township and Middletown Township, according to observations and water level data.

As of 8 a.m., the U.S. Geological Survey storm gauges at Second Street Pike in Wrightstown Township and Playwicki Park in Middletown Township reported the creek was in the minor flood stage. However, the level appeared to be slowly dropping.

At both locations, the Neshaminy Creek was lower than flooding earlier this month, which was the highest water levels seen in a year.

The minor flooding on Thursday was not reported to have caused any major problems.

The county was placed in a Flood Warning for the storm and the National Weather Service cautioned of minor flooding of creeks, streams, and low-lying areas.

“Turn around … don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles,” forecasters said.

The National Weather Service said 1.5 to 2 inches of rain fell in Lower Bucks County through Thursday.
