A new supervisors of special education has been hired by the Bristol Township School Board.

This month, the school board voted to hire Justina Garofalo to fill the role left vacant when Dr. Katherine Shultz left to take a new position as the director of special education for the Easton Area School District.
Garofalo was hired to work with Al Oberman, the district’s director of special services, as part of a broader initiative by the Bristol Township School District to strengthen its special education department, according to a statement.
“We are excited to welcome Justina to our team, and looking forward to the work she will do with our students and programs,” Oberman said.

Garofalo comes to the Bristol Township School District from the Bensalem Township School District. She had worked in the district since 2018. Her roles there included an autistic support teacher, where she managed the cases of eight students, and a curriculum coordinator.
Garofalo began her career as an autistic support teacher with the Bucks County Intermediate Unit.

Garofalo holds an Autism Endorsement, enabling her to teach students with autism spectrum disorders effectively. She also has certifications in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) training and Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines (CSTAG) training.
The district’s new administrator recently obtained her Supervisor of Special Education Certification from Slippery Rock University. Additionally, she holds both a master’s and bachelor’s of Education from Holy Family University.
