Crews have recently been undertaking site work at the former Lafayette Elementary School in Bristol Township ahead of construction of 88 new dwellings.

Bulldozers have recently been at the site that sits along Fayette Drive.
Last year, Bristol Township Council gave builder DR Horton, which is among the largest homebuilders in the nation, the greenlight to construct 88 55-plus residences spread among 44 structures.
The development will abut the PECO right-of-way for the high voltage lines and county-owned Silver Lake Park.

The developer has planned stormwater improvements for the property, including several water detention areas. The site has been the site of flooding in the past.
The development is designed with new stormwater systems to handle a 100-year storm, an engineer for the company said.

At the time the development was approved, a resident at a public meeting raised worries about traffic from the site.
The development will have one entrance and exit, but there will be a second emergency access point.
DR Horton officials have said the goal is to build age-qualified housing for local residents. Prices haven’t been set for the proposed residences, but the builder said they are aiming to make them more affordable than other similar neighborhoods in Bucks County.
