“The courts will be lit seven days a week until ten pm so everyone has time to get a game in before the winter cold,” Supervisors Chairperson Anna Payne said.

The surge in pickleball’s popularity is evidenced by a staggering 85% increase in players in 2022, totaling 8.9 million, making it America’s fastest-growing sport, according to the State of Pickleball: Participation & Infrastructure Report.
The surge in popularity has prompted local governments and private entities to establish more pickleball facilities nationwide.

However, the sport’s growth spurt hasn’t been without its complications. Reports have noted some issues such as injuries, noise concerns from local residents, and competition for court time have all popped up, according to a CNN report.

Firefighters’ Park is a 13-acre recreational spot within the Parkland section of the township.
Alongside the new pickleball courts, the park features a playground, basketball courts, and softball fields. The other amenities were renovated in 2019.
