A woman was arrested Monday after police alleged she left her 1-year-old child inside her car as she went shopping.

Middletown Township police were dispatched to the Giant Food Store along New Falls Road at 12:43 p.m. for a child left in a car without an adult, according to authorities.
Officers arrived and found a 1-year-old alone inside a Nissan Ultima parked outside the grocery store. They made entry and started rendering aid to the baby, police said.
The baby was unresponsive and overheated after being left in the car, police said.

The child was taken to a hospital to be evaluated and treated for heat-related complications, police said.

The woman was allegedly found to be in possession of drugs.
Police said on Tuesday that the baby recovered and Bucks County Children and Youth were involved in the case.

The mother of the child was taken into custody and identified as Patricia J. Baskerville, 40, of Penndel Borough.
Baskerville was preliminarily arraigned Monday night by on-call District Judge Lisa Gaier on charges of endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, and use/possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
