
A Pennsbury School District student was killed in a Lower Makefield Township murder-suicide on Thursday, and the district will offer counseling services.

Around 6:10 p.m. Thursday, Lower Makefield Township police officers responded to the 500 block of Heritage Oak Drive for a well-being check. Upon arrival, officers found two unresponsive individuals inside the home, both having suffered apparent gunshot wounds to the head, officials said.
Police said preliminary findings have led to investigators handling the case as a murder-suicide.
Those killed were identified Friday as 47-year-old Joseph Rozario and his 8-year-old son, Fabian Rozario, police said.

The father appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and Fabian suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head, police said.
The Rozario family had been residents of Lower Makefield Township for the past four years, and Fabian was a student at Afton Elementary School in the Pennsbury School District.

In light of this tragic event, Pennsbury School District officials will offer support to grieving students and their families.
Grief counseling has been arranged by the school district and will take place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Afton Elementary School.
Pennsbury Superintendent Dr. Thomas Smith issued a letter to the the community in the wake of the death of the district fourth grader.

“In times of grief, our community can find strength in unity,” Smith said.
Lower Makefield Township Police Chief Kenneth Coluzzi told 6abc responding officers initially discovered Fabian lying motionless on the floor inside the home. Prompted by the discovery, they took immediate action to gain entry into the house.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
The Bucks County Coroner’s Office is expected to perform autopsies on Friday.
