Last week, the Middletown Township high school stadium was ready and hosted the graduation for the Class of 2023.

The stadium had new bleachers, a new press box, a new track, and a fresh artificial turf surface.

The entire artificial turf surface of the stadium was unrolled and laid out within a 48-hour time frame, according to the district.

Ahead of graduation, artificial turf was put in place, the lines and Neshaminy logo installed, and the entire surface was coated with sand and tiny rubber pellets.

Demolition on the 70-year-old sports complex began after the fall football season and construction on the new one started shortly after.

The overhaul of the stadium and surrounding high school sports complex were estimated to cost around $13 million.

In addition to the work to Harry E. Franks Stadium, the baseball field was switched to turf, the practice football field and multi-purpose field were converted to turf and the tennis courts were redone and expanded. The project also involves the concession stand that will be renovated, a new entry plaza constructed, locker rooms for two teams will be added, and there will be a restroom expansion.

For several years, there have been calls for the district to update their athletic facilities.
