George William Wharton, 42, of Philadelphia, was arrested by Middletown Township police late Monday night outside of a home on Red Berry Road in the Levittown section.

The woman who lives at the home said she knew Wharton. He was permitted by her to stay on Friday in the garage of the residence but not the rest of the home, according to police.

On Saturday, the woman let Wharton into her home to collect some of his belongings. Instead, he didn’t get his belongings and followed her around. At some point, Wharton attacked the woman and screamed in her face before stopping, police said.

Early Sunday morning, Wharton again screamed at the woman before attacking her. She fought back and he apologized, police said.

Later on Sunday, Wharton refused to let the woman go to Walmart by herself and he attacked her again by grabbing her throat, hitting her in the mouth, head butting her face, and choking her, police said.

The woman told investigators she was crying as Wharton kept yelling at her. He took her phone and car keys, confining her to a bedroom despite her requests to stop, police said.

The woman reportedly told investigators she attempted to calm Wharton down in hopes he would stop attacking her.

Early Monday morning, the woman went to work and hoped Wharton would leave her home, police said.

The woman reported spotting Wharton leaving the home after watching her home security system.

Police said the woman returned home and locked all the doors and windows, advising Wharton not to return.
