The school board has promoted Jeana Sabatini-Gilbert, of Levittown, to be the next assistant principal at the Bristol Township middle school on Wistar Road.

Bernadette Hannah, who shifted to the district-level role of supervisor of elementary education recently, is having her previous job filled by Sabatini-Gilbert.

“We believe that Ms. Sabatini-Gilbert has a strong skill set that will translate well to the unique needs of the middle school learner,” Superintendent Michael Nitti said. “We look forward to her joining the outstanding faculty at Armstrong and becoming a valuable part of the school community.”

In New Jersey’s Lawrence Public Schools, where she began her career as a teacher, Sabatini-Gilbert worked as a social studies instructor, special education instructor, athletics coach, and supervisor. She was also actively involved in the district Core Team and efforts to fulfill the needs of at-risk pupils. She also worked as a teacher mentor.

She currently serves as a supervisor of special education at Foundations Mental Health’s Lifeworks Schools. Sabatini-Gilbert moved into an administrative position at that organization and she took on a significant responsibility for curriculum design, instructional leadership, and program design to fulfill the social-emotional and academic requirements of special learners in this role.

Sabatini-Gilbert also was a student athlete at Rider University.

Sabatini-Gilbert graduated from Rider University with both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. She also won the Exceptional Performance Award in Special Education and was named an Andrew J. Rider Scholar for finishing in the top 1 percent of her class.

Sabatini-Gilbert is set to begin working at Armstrong in mid-May.

Armstrong is one of the district’s two middle schools. The other is the recently-opened Ben Franklin Middle School that replaced the now-closed Franklin D. Roosevelt Middle School.
