New Lights Brighten Mill Street

If you haven’t noticed, Mill Street in Bristol Borough is looking a bit brighter.

In early November, Bristol Borough: Raising the Bar installed 2,000 cafe lights along the street and the 100 block of Radcliffe Street.

The lights are white, but have been programmed to be green for the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl appearance and for St. Patrick’s Day. Other colors can be programed for different events.

Bill Pezza, president of Bristol Borough: Raising the Bar, said the cafe lights are designed to make Mill Street brighter and even more attractive to locals and visitors.

“Not only is the street going to be brighter, but because they’re programmable, we can push a button and Mill Street will be green on St. Patrick’s Day, it will red on St. Valentine’s day, and red, white, and blue for Fourth of July,” he said.

Bristol Borough: Raising the Bar said in a post that people can “following the lights to great food, spirits, music, and shopping.”

The lights were fully funded by the nonprofit Bristol Borough: Raising the Bar.

Pezza said the group worked with the borough to get the lights up along the street. He credited a large group of people for making the lights a reality.

The new lights are among a number of changes and upgrades that have come to the borough’s central business district over the past decade.

The pandemic cooled Mill Street’s growth, but the addition of new businesses and events has resumed over the past year and the street appears busier than in years past.
