The Middletown Township Board of Supervisors earlier this month approved the purchase of the VirTra V-100 LE firearms training simulator system for $54,356.96.
Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla said the simulator will be fitted into the indoor shooting range at the Municipal Complex.
“It doesn’t require out officers to leave the building for training,” he said.

In addition to Middletown Township’s police officers, law enforcement from Hulmeville Borough, Langhorne Borough, Langhorne Manor Borough, and Penndel Borough, as well as other nearby departments, can use the training system, Bartorilla said.
The chief said the simulator will help officers train for active shooter incidents and other events.

“The V-100 LE judgmental use of force simulator provides agencies with a superior, realistic one screen simulation training environment. This small firearms and decision-making training simulator is designed to teach and sustain trainees and seasoned officers alike through professionally-produced scenarios filmed and edited specifically for VirTra’s simulators,” according to the manufacturer.
“It’s an excellent investment for the price,” Bartorilla said.
The supervisors also approved spending $16,384.74 to purchase 35 sets of breaching tools that will be placed in all patrol cars.

Bartorilla explained the breaching equipment are “valuable life-saving tools” that give officers the ability to break through locked doors and gain entry when seconds count.
The supervisors also approved the purchase of a 2023 Ford F-450 pickup truck with plow and liftgate for $84,708.25. The truck is for the public work’s department.
