A social media post spread around that kids were nearly kidnapped by a woman with an accent on Wednesday at a Bristol Borough School District building. As can be imagined, the post spread quickly and raised concern among many parents.
Bristol Borough police Detective William Davis told LevittownNow.com the incident the post referenced stemmed from a miscommunication and some confusion, but not bad intentions by anyone.
The district put out a Thursday afternoon email to parents that read: “After a very thorough investigation by the Bristol Borough Police Department, it was determined that yesterday’s event was a miscommunication on the part of a driving service that is used to transport students. As stated earlier, all students were safe at all times. District safety protocols were implemented and were effective.”

The woman who arrived at the school to try to pick up students worked for a Bucks County Intermediate Unit-contracted driving service and was there to get the kids to an after-school program. However, the parent had cancelled the ride prior, but word didn’t make it to the driver who attempted to picked the kids up from school, Davis explained
The situation was compounded when the driver forgot their identification and there was a language barrier, Davis said.
Police spoke with the parents, school officials, and the driving service. The facts checked out and the incident has been chalked up to a misunderstanding.

“There was confusion, but they realized it was a mistake,” Davis said.
