A group of local performers will stage a one-night holiday show themed around Levittown.

Righteous Jolly, who was raised in Bristol Township’s Levittown section and now lives in Middletown Township, will put on the musical comedy review that is based on the Charles Dickens classic “A Christmas Carol” Friday starting at 8 p.m. at Broken Goblet Brewing at 2500 State Road in Bensalem Township.

“‘It’s A Levitown Christmas Carol: A Musical Comedy Review‘ is based on the Charles Dickens classic about Ebenezer Scrooge but told beneath the powerlines of Levitown,” said Jolly, a veteran performer and showman in the region.

“This Ebenezer Scrooge, known as Ebby, is the owner of a bar called NoGleeS.I.N.S Pub. He only cares about money and profit, and does not enjoy any semblance of the holiday. This story is very much a nostalgia piece that could take place in the 90s. It’s chock full of starter jackets, BMX bike references (GT’s Dynos, Haros), and stores and restaurants that closed, like PoFolks and Seafood Shanty. It’s brimming with Levittown verbiage and folklore,” said Jolly, who adapted the story with David Shaw.

The show will feature popular holiday music with a live band and musical review. The performance will also showcase a 1990s-style R&B and hip-hop song by Jolly and Adam Honeycutt called “Levittown Christmas,” which will be released on BandCamp after the show. Jordan T. Peterson arranged and composed songs for the show.

Jolly said the spectators at the free event should “expect absolute lunacy.”

“This is a wild holiday show with a full rock band,” he explained. “It will be funny, odd, touching, and ridiculous!”

Jolly acknowledged the one-night show will feature many performers and is a big undertaking, but he typically stages some sort of holiday show each year.

The show will star Jolly and fellow Levittown natives Cara Cartney, Matt Fischer, Dan Mac, Greg McGarvey, and Mark Applegate. Reese Dunlap will play the important role of the Ghost of Christmas Present and will take Ebenezer to Wawa. Even some of the owners of Broken Goblet Brewing, which started in Bristol Township, will be taking on roles. British-born actor and new Bristol Borough resident Stuart Myles will be the show’s narrator.

Jolly added that Cartney’s dog Lincoln will play the pivotal role of Tiny Tim, adding “it’s worth noting because people love dogs.”

“Though this story is Levittown centric, it is a timeless tale about a person who has forgotten about all the good this world has to offer. And the reckonings that come with being such a miserable crumb bum,” he said.
