The new superintendent of the Bristol Township School District is shuffling top leadership within the the Administration Building.

Superintendent Michael Nitti, who started earlier this fall, received approval Monday evening from the school board to realign administration, creating a “central office core team.”
The new core team for the central office will be created as part of the realignment strategy. The leadership team is made up of Superintendent Michael Nitti, incoming Business Manager John Scavelli, Assistant Superintendent Chris Polzer, and the new position for Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

As the district’s chief executive, Nitti is responsible for the five key management responsibilities of a school district: finances, curriculum and instruction, operations, governance, and people. The administrative core team members are then assigned to the five core areas.

“My goal is to establish a strong and effective Central Office Core Team that will work with the Board to ensure that the district is well-run, the schools are successful and our collective work promotes student achievement,” said Nitti.
The school board voted to promote Polzer from director of administration to the new role as assistant superintendent. The director of administration job will be phased out.

Polzer, in his new role, will oversee operations and personnel with responsibilities including special education services; school culture and climate; equity, efficiency and achievement; and special projects. He will also fill-in when the superintendent is out.

“I look forward to collaborating with Superintendent Nitti, the school board and all the amazing leaders throughout the district,” said Polzer. “Each day, we will have students’ best interests in mind, build equity and strive to meet the needs of all learners.”
When he starts as business manager in January, Scavelli will oversee payroll and purchasing, transportation, facilities, food services, and grant accounting in his role business manager.

Nitti’s plan also creates the new position of director of curriculum and instruction to manager professional development, teacher evaluation, assessment and data analysis, state and federal grant management, and instructional efficacy.
The school board approved the description for the new job and will begin a search for the right person for the role. The job has been posted on the district’s human resources page.

“We are looking for an adaptive expert leader in charge of curriculum and instruction who is focused solely on teaching and learning, and what is going on in the classroom,” said Nitti.
