Crews were dispatched to the area of 2nd Avenue and Route 13 in Bristol Borough for a brush fire just before 12:40 p.m. They arrived and quickly found the fire was in the county-owned park and nature center on the Bristol Township side of the border, Third District Fire Company Chief Howard McGoldrick said.

A total of 45 firefighters from companies in Lower Bucks County responded to battle the flames that were burning grass and brush across 7.3 acres at the park off Van Pelt Street, McGoldrick said.

The fire was near the county park’s maintenance buildings, but no structures were damaged and no injuries were reported, the chief said.

Due to Lower Bucks County’s large swaths of development, several fire companies were needed to deploy off-road and brush trucks to battle the fire on the park property, McGoldrick said.

In total, there were three field trucks, four tactical trucks, and three pumpers sent by fire stations. The Croydon Fire Company’s drone was used to assess the blaze from above.

In addition, the Silver Lake Nature Center staff and Bucks County Rangers assisted. The Falls Township and Newportville fire companies covered the Third District Fire Company station.
