Kids and families gathered at the base of Mill Street to light the large tree donated by the Galante family, who planted the three 30 years ago with the aim of it being used as the borough tree one day.
Singer Ginger Coyle and musician Don McClusky, whose music has appeared internationally on radio and in TV and streaming projects, performed throughout the evening.
In addition, the festivities featured food vendors and crafters at a small Christmas village.
