A Tuesday afternoon fire left a home uninhabitable and the cause remains under investigation.
The fire happened around 1:42 p.m. when crews were dispatched to the blaze on the third floor of a semi-detached home in the 500 block of Bath Street in Bristol Borough.

Herb Slack, the borough fire chief, said the first arriving firefighters had difficulty accessing a bedroom because of items partially blocking the door from opening.
Crews did make entry and put down the fire, which ended up being contained a mattress, Slack said.
The resident of the room was not home at the time and no injuries were reported.

Slack said borough code officers at the scene determined the home is uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire was under investigation as of Tuesday evening, according to Slack.

Borough police, fire police, and a state park ranger blocked traffic along Bath Street during the blaze.
The America, Hose, Hook, and Ladder; Bristol; Bristol Consolidated; Goodwill Hose; Croydon; and Third District fire companies responded. The Edgely and Newportville fire companies responded to supplement with manpower.
