A fast food chain known for fried chicken and biscuits has received all the necessary greenlights from Bristol Township Council.
The council last Thursday evening unanimously approved preliminarily and find land development for a new Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen at 1111 Veterans Highway (Route 413), across from Winder Drive.

The approves plans call for Bensalem Township-based Rahmani Enterprises Corporation to build and operate the 2,354-square-foot fast food restaurant on the .63-acre lot.
The proposal calls for 20 parking spaces and a two-lane drive-thru that merges into one pick-up lane. The site would have an entrance and exit at the traffic light.
Justin Geonnotti, the engineer for the project, said a roughly 2,000-square-foot underground stormwater basin will be added at the site. Currently, there are no stormwater infrastructure at the site.

The Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is expected to open in about a year.
Council approved nine waivers for the plan and conditional use to allow the eatery in the town center overlay district.

Previously, the Bristol Township Zoning Hearing Board approved variances for impervious surface coverage of 74.3 percent, which is usually capped at 65 percent; permit two street trees where six would otherwise required; allow the parking setback to be less than required; have less parking spaces than typically required; and not require a loading space.
The Bristol Township Planning Commissions recommended council should approve the project last month.
The site was once the home of Golden Donuts, which closed years ago. The vacant doughnut shop was demolished in 2017 after township officials raised ire over the empty building and overgrown parking lot.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen currently has more than 3,400 locations in the U.S. and 29 other countries. Locations operate largely under a franchise model.
In May, the Middletown Township Board of Supervisors approved construction of a 2,145-square-foot Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen at 1791 East Lincoln Highway. Construction on the site has not yet begun.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen already has locations along West Trenton Avenue in Falls Township’s Morrisville section and along Levittown Parkway in the Levittown Town Center in Tullytown Borough.
