Shapiro, Davis & Fetterman Rally Supporters In Lower Bucks County

The three top Democrats running in Pennsylvania brought their campaigns to Lower Bucks County Sunday evening.

Attorney General Josh Shapiro, who is running for governor; State Rep. Austin Davis, who is running for lieutenant governor; and Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, who is running for U.S. Senate, made their final arguments to more than 700 supporters at Bucks County Community College’s Newtown Township campus.

“I want you to realize the power of your voice,” Shapiro told the crowd. “Right now, we are two days away from this election. My name might be on the ballot, Austin Davis’ name might be on the ballot, John Fetterman’s name may be on the ballot, but the simple truth is it is your rights and future is on the line right now. So I ask you tonight, Bucks County, to lend your voice, to do your part.”

Fetterman urged supporters to get involved and cast their ballots for him, noting he continues to recover from his spring stroke, while his opponent, Republican Mehmet Oz, will “still be a fraud” come the new year.

“He has made millions scamming people. He’s been selling miracle cures I can’t even pronounce, even before I had my stroke,” he said.

Shapiro promised to protect “the union way of life,” open up state jobs to people without college degrees, invest in creating green energy jobs, invest in growing businesses, remove a reliance on standardized testing, invest in trade schools, fight addiction, invest in schools, fight to protect abortion, and protect Pennsylvanians’ “fundamental freedoms.”

Shapiro said he sees a state with so much potential ahead of it.

“I am ready to do my part as the next governor of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania,” he said.

Speaking of his opponent, Mastriano, Shapiro said he doesn’t represent what residents of the state want.

“Mastriano’s number one priority is banning all abortions and charging women for murder,” he said.

Fetterman told supporters he would work on fighting crime from all angles. He noted his opponent has focused on crime in his campaign stump.

“Do you think he actually cares about crime? He just put out a crime plan on his website last week,” Fetterman said.

Fetterman hit Oz by saying the U.S. Senate seat “shouldn’t be up for sale.”

Davis called on the crowd to make sure they vote.

U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, a Democrat, said Bucks County and Montgomery County will decide the U.S. Senate race and every vote counts.

The senator said Fetterman, if elected, will support programs that will prevent crime and the causes.

Ashley Ehasz, the Bensalem Township Democrat running against GOP incumbent Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, asked voters to “save” the country by voting for her party.

“This campaign, this race is more than just politics to me. It is personal,” she said. “My family, like many of yours, has been made to suffer for far too long at the hands of inept politicians.”

Ehasz vowed to “fight for a better world” and that she would defend the system of government, as she did when serving in the U.S. Army.

“I will fight always for a better world,” she said.

Former Republican Congressman Jim Greenwood, who has supported Shapiro and other Democrats in the wake of President Donald Trump’s election, said that a state with Mastriano as governor wouldn’t be safe and there would be a lack of hope.

He told the crowd some Republicans had called him a “traitor” and said he was “going to hell,” but those comments didn’t bother him “considering the source.”

State Sen. Steve Santarsiero, State Rep. Perry Warren, and Bucks County Commissioners Bob Harvie and Diane Ellis-Marseglia also addressed the crowd.

The rally was the final stop on Shapiro and Davis’ “Big Fights Bus Tour” that has traveled Pennsylvania and hit numerous towns and cities.

Near the entrance to the rally, a group of Mastriano supporters waved flags and yelled at those entering. One woman said rally-goers were “ruining our country.”

The campaign rally with more than 700 people in attendance came hours after Oz held a roundtable event in Upper Makefield Township. Mastriano is set to hold a rally Monday in Upper Makefield Township.
