Unclaimed Bucks County Veterans To Be Laid To Rest

Two Bristol Township veterans whose remains have been unclaimed will be laid to rest with full military honors this week.

Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck announced the public is invited to attend the services at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Upper Makefield Township at 2 p.m. on Thursday. The cemetery is located at 830 Highland Road.

The veterans who will be interred are:

• U.S. Navy Seaman Apprentice Albert Reamy, a Bristol Township resident who served during the World War II era. He died in November 2017 at age 88.

• U.S. Army Private Lee Schantz, a Springfield Township resident who served during the Persian Gulf War era. He died in June 2016 at age 54.

• U.S. Marine Corps. Private Richard Wilburn, a resident of Quakertown Borough. He died in January 2017 at age 76.

• U.S. Air Force Airman Stephen Williams, a Bristol Township resident who served during the Vietnam War era. He died in August 2017 at age 68.

“During the ceremony, the veterans’ names will be read, and the Pennsylvania Military Honors team will present  the flag on the behalf of the veterans,” the coroner’s office said.

A rifle salute and Taps will be performed at the ceremony before the veterans’ remains will be placed in the columbarium.

The ceremony makes sure military veterans are laid to rest with honors if there is no family to claim them.

The coroner’s office said the ceremony will be the last of 2022. More ceremonies are expected to resume in January 2023.
