According to a post from the Cornwells Fire Company, crews from their company and the Penndel and Newportville fire companies were dispatched to southbound I-95 just south of Woodhaven Road around 1:30 a.m. for a crash involving a passenger vehicle and tractor-trailer.

An arriving Cornwells Fire Company deputy chief found heavy entrapment in both vehicles.

The Cornwells Fire Company said their rescue crews extricated the people from the passenger vehicle, while crews from all three fire companies worked to free the driver of the tractor-trailer, which was badly damaged and on its side.

Bensalem EMS transported the vehicle occupants after they were freed from the vehicles.

At the scene, a passenger vehicle traveling on I-95 struck the rear of Cornwells Fire Company’s Tower 16 as crews were working the serious crash scene, according to the post.

“Luckily, the tower was blocking the shoulder along with multiple lanes of traffic and no personnel were injured,” the fire company said.
