Troopers Make Arrests & Issue Tickets During Local Enforcement Detail

Pennsylvania State Police troopers in the area took part in a multi-county traffic enforcement detail.

Troopers from across Pennsylvania State Police Troop M, which covers Lehigh, Northampton, and Bucks counties, took part in the enforcement effort Tuesday.

The detail led to arrests, citations, and warnings being issued to drivers who were violating the law.

Results of the multi-county traffic enforcement detail:

  • 168 Traffic Citations
  • 76 Warnings
  • 4 Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Arrest
  • 1 Drug Related Arrests
  • 8 Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) Inspections

“The objective of this operation was to conduct aggressive, visible enforcement resulting in increased highway safety,” troopers said.

According to data from the the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Pennsylvania saw 1,234 traffic fatalities, a 9 percent jump over 2020.

The national data showed that more than 90 percent of collisions are caused by driver behavior.

PennDOT said they are working toward zero roadway deaths “by focusing on both infrastructure-based strategies and behavior change to reduce the frequency and severity of crashes. This is done by implementing roadway designs that emphasize minimizing the risk of injury to all road users, reducing inequities in our transportation network, and using cost-effective, data-driven methods.”
