On Saturday afternoon, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, with Secret Service special agents in tow, made a campaign stop for Attorney General Josh Shapiro, who is running for governor, First Congressional District candidate Ashley Ehasz, and State Sen. Steve Santarsiero, who is running for re-election and is also head of the county Democratic committee.

The event took place at an office complex in Doylestown Borough and was held as a kickoff for volunteers who then canvassed for Democratic candidates in Bucks County.

The state Democratic committee said the visit by the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris was part of its All In PA initiative focused on “getting out the vote and making sure all voters are prepared to make their voices heard.”

“I’m proud to have the support of the White House in the race for PA-01, and to welcome the Second Gentleman to our district. They know how critical my race is to keeping the majority in the House and protecting access to the right to choose. Doug Emhoff has been a tireless advocate expanding access to education and mental health resources. I look forward to working with him on these issues in Congress,” Ehasz said.

State Sen, Sharif Street, the chairperson of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, was also in attendance for the event.

Street posted on social media that 100 people came out to the canvassing event, which was not promoted to the general public in advance.

Emhoff was last in Bucks County for a November 2020 pre-election campaign stop in Doylestown Township.
