Husband Of VP Candidate Kamala Harris Makes Final Pitch In Bucks County

The husband of Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris told voters in Bucks County on Monday that a new administration could heal the county and put in on a better track.

Doug Emhoff, the attorney who could become the nation’s first second gentleman, visited the Delaware Valley University campus in Doylestown Township as part of Democratic candidate Joe Biden campaign’s final barnstorm across the Keystone State before election day.

Speaking to the crowd of more than three dozen with COVID-19 spacing in place, Emhoff called the country under President Donald Trump’s time in office “a nation of pain.” He said the administration’s handling of the economy, the coronavirus, and so many other challenges has only added stress and torn the country apart.

“There is hope for this pain. We have a better choice,” he said.

He stated Biden and his wife don’t just have plan to tackle the challenges, but they will do so with compassion and without dividing the country further.

“We will not stand for it,” he said of Trump’s divisive comments.

“We are all fed up and traumatized. We can’t take this anymore,” Emhoff told the group.

While many people are voting via mail-in and absentee ballots, Emhoff encouraged those at the rally to get their friends and family who did not yet cast a ballot to either return them or go to polling places on Tuesday.

The election process needs to be fair and every vote should count, even those of “friends” supporting Trump, Emhoff said pointing to two men outside of the event with a large Trump sign.

Before Emhoff, Bucks County Democratic Committee Chairman John Cordisco told the gathering that a Biden-Harris administration would get to work solving problems.

Democratic State Sen. Steve Santarsiero said that everyone needs to get out and vote on Tuesday.

“There can be no do-overs here,” he said.

Before stopping in Bucks County, Emhoff was in Montgomery County and central portion of the state. Harris and Biden and his wife spent Monday campaigning across the state before meeting at a large evening campaign event in Philadelphia.

The Biden and Trump campaign have focused incredible amounts of time and resources in Pennsylvania and feel it a must-win state if they want to take the election.

Over the weekend, Trump visited Upper Makefield, while the Bidens stopped in Bristol Township just two weeks ago.
