Crews from several fire companies were called to Third Avenue off Route 13 in Bristol Borough for a wires call around 8:15 a.m., dispatch records show.
A social media post from Bristol Consolidated Fire Company said the crews arrived to find an “impressive transformer” fire.

“Route 13 had to be closed for a short period of time due to the amount of smoke in the area, causing zero visibility on the roadway,” the fire company said.

PECO was able to cut power to the burning transformer and the blaze was put down, the fire company said.
The Bristol, Bristol Consolidated Fire Company, and Goodwill Hose fire companies responded to the scene.
