Gas Line Struck During Pipe Work

A gas line was struck during work in Penndel Borough Wednesday.

The gas line strike happened at Lincoln and Centre avenues around 1:15 p.m.

A resident who lives near the site said the odor of natural gas permeated the air near the leak.

The gas leak happened where the Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority was doing underground work.

PECO arrived and quickly contained the leak and began repair work, an official said.

The Middletown Township Department of Fire and Emergency Management and Penndel Fire Company were spotted at the scene.

The Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority is presently working to replace water mains in parts of the borough. The authority has set up temporary water lines while the work is ongoing.
