A Republican candidate for Pennsylvania Senate for the 10th District who was arrested in 2011 for public intoxication said this week that his actions do not reflect the person he is now.

According to an arrest report anonymously provided to LevittownNow.com, candidate Matt McCullough, of Newtown Township, was arrested in July 2011 at Brass Stables, a strip club and bar in Nashville, on a charge of public intoxication.

Officers were dispatched to the strip club and bar for a report of a disorderly person, the recently surfaced 2011 police report states.

An officer with the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department wrote that McCullough, who then lived in New Jersey, was “highly intoxicated and very unsteady on his feet” and had a “powerful odor of alcohol” coming from him. His speech was reported to be slurred and his eyes were bloodshot.

Police said in their report that there was an allegation that McCullough “grabbed and squeezed” an employee’s breast.

The officer wrote he got a cab for McCullough, but the man kept arguing and ended being arrested after refusing to leave.

Records confirmed by this news organization with the Criminal Court Clerk of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County showed McCullough was charged with public intoxication, but the charge was dismissed and the case was closed. No charge was levied in connection to the claim of the strip club and bar employee being touched.

McCullough said he took “full responsibility” for his actions while being intoxicated on vacation, but he strongly denied ever touching anyone at the strip club and bar.

McCullough, who is married and has kids, said he sat in a room at the police station for several hours following the incident. He said he was not called to court and moved past the incident.

“It is not indicative of who I am,” he said.
