Touch-A-Truck Raises Record Breaking Amount For Nonprofit

Falls Township’s Touch-A-Truck event over the weekend was bigger than in years past and raised more than $20,000 for charity.

The event at Falls Township Community Park collected a record-breaking $20,200 for The Barkann
Family Healing Hearts Foundation. The nonprofit offers financial assistance to regional families in need as a result of recent loss or suffering.

“Throughout COVID 19, we were reminded by many social workers who we work with throughout the year that we were one of the only charities they refer families to who were able to provide support to families without any interruption during that two-year span though the pandemic,” said The Barkann Family Healing Hearts Foundation Executive Director Mike Barnes. “In my humble opinion, we look too far for the good in this world when it is right in front of us.”

The Touch-A-Truck fundraiser from 2021 brought in $13,000 for charity.

Many of the sponsors agreed to have their contributions donated to The Barkann Family Healing Hearts Foundation even though the pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 event.

Over the past few years, Falls Township’s Touch-A-Truck has given the foundation a total of more than $50,000 thanks to the sponsors of the event.

This year’s Touch-A-Truck event brought large trucks, excavators, towing vehicles, utility trucks, mowers,
emergency response vehicles, fire trucks, fuel trucks, construction vehicles, and heavy machinery to the park.

With the help of the Falls Township Parks and Recreation Department and Supervisor Vice Chairperson Jeff Boraski, Touch-A-Truck offered kids a special chance to learn more about the many trucks on display and their roles roles in emergency services, construction, farming, manufacturing, and other areas.
