The Pennsbury School District said in a letter to parents this week that they are working to improve transportation after delays have been reported.

Superintendent Dr. Thomas Smith and Director of Transportation Milagro Aleman said the district has 100 bus and van routes and they are aware of “several” bus runs that have been “habitually late” since classes began.
“We share your frustration, and we are working hard to rectify these issues as soon as possible. Our bus drivers are doing their very best, and we appreciate your patience,” Smith and Aleman said.
To correct the issues, the district is working to make stop adjustments, update parents, and hire more drivers, officials said.

Dear Pennsbury Families,
I am writing to update you on the status of our transportation program. You are probably aware that several of our bus runs have been habitually late over the past six days. We share your frustration, and we are working hard to rectify these issues as soon as possible. Our bus drivers are doing their very best, and we appreciate your patience. I would also like to thank our teachers and building staff members who are assisting our students while they are waiting for late buses.

Here is what we are doing to resolve this issue:
● We are reviewing each of our 100 bus and van routes to ensure the timely delivery of students to schools. This will result in time or stop adjustments for some students. Beginning immediately, pick-up changes are being communicated via paper copy given to the student by the bus driver and also posted in PowerSchool. This will continue over the next several days until all changes are made.
● Elementary and middle school families will be notified via email for any bus that is running more than 15 minutes late.

● We are working with Stopfinder to address the issues that some families are experiencing. We will provide an update when this is resolved.
● We continue to recruit and train drivers (if you or someone you know is interested in being a driver for us, click this link).

● If you need transportation assistance, please contact: transportation@pennsburysd.org or 215-428-4100, ext. 10076.
All messages will be returned as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding. The safe transportation of almost 9,000 students is our primary concern, and we are committed to doing everything we can to address this situation.
Sincerely,
Thomas A. Smith, Ed.D. Superintendent of Schools
Ms. Milagro Aleman, Director of Transportation
