
A driver removed himself from a vehicle after a violent crash Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened around 4:35 p.m. on I-295 westbound just past the Woodbourne Road overpass in Middletown Township.
Pennsylvania State Police, the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company, and the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad responded to the scene.
Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company Chief Frank Farry said he arrived first on the scene and found the a car split in half and the driver standing on the shoulder of the highway. The driver didn’t appear to have life-threatening injuries and had extricated himself from the vehicle.

It appeared the vehicle struck a PennDOT sign along the highway and several trees, Farry said.
The car was the only vehicle involved.
