CSX plans to replace the railroad crossing at the Langhorne Train Station in Middletown Township and on the border with Penndel Borough and Langhorne Manor Borough.

The closure of Bellevue Avenue between Comly and Park avenues will start at 7 a.m. Sunday, August 28 and end at noon Saturday, September 3.

PennDOT said the round-the-clock closure will detour drivers on Lincoln Highway, Woodbourne Road, and Maple Avenue (Route 213.) Local access will be maintained.

Drivers are asked to allow extra time when traveling near the work zone, PennDOT said.

The closure was previously planned, but it was delayed after concerns were raised over worries about traffic because the reconstruction of the nearby Hulmeville Avenue bridge.

The Hulmeville Avenue bridge is close to being finished and will reopen next Friday.

Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, a Republican from Middletown Township, issued a letter to CSX and the Federal Railroad Administration to raise concern over the closure while the bridge is out. He warned the closure would delay emergency responders if both Bellevue Avenue and Hulmeville Avenue were closed.

Local municipal officials met with PennDOT and learned the CSX work would only take place after the Hulmeville Avenue bridge reopened.
