A man with a gun held a suspect who was attempting to steal his SUV until police arrived, according to court papers.

Around 5:05 a.m. Friday, Bristol Township police were dispatched to the Speedway gas station in the 2900 block of Veterans Highway (Route 413) for a report of an armed person. The dispatcher learned one person had a gun and there was a scuffle between that person and another, police said.
Officers arrived and worked to sort out what was happening, police said.
The man reported to officers he went into the station to pay for his gas when he spotted a man sitting inside his Volkswagen Atlas attempting to take it, police said.

The man pulled the other man out of the vehicle and held him there at gunpoint while a station employee dialed 9-1-1, police said.
The man told investigators he was holding the man who tried to take his SUV when the man tried to escape, police said.

A gas station employee told officers she watched the suspect get up and the armed owner of the vehicle shove him twice, police said.
The suspect who attempted to steal the SUV – Heber Ortiz-Contreras, 21, of Morrisville Borough – was taken from the scene and charged.
Ortiz-Contreras was hauled before on-call District Judge Jan Vislosky at 10:15 a.m. Friday to be preliminarily arraigned on charges of robbery of a motor vehicle, attempted robbery of a motor vehicle, and simple assault. He was sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $100,000.
