Tullytown Borough’s chief of police will be retiring toward the end of the summer.

Chief Daniel Doyle submitted a letter to Tullytown Borough Council and his retirement was accepted at council’s Wednesday meeting.
“I believe I have accomplished all I have set out to do,” Doyle said in his letter.
The outgoing chief thanked the residents for their support.

“It has truly been an honor to serve the citizens of Tullytown Borough,” Doyle said.
Doyle will be using his remaining vacation time and officially retire from the borough on September 2.

Doyle has served as chief since 2013 and has been an officer in the borough of 2,200 people since 1997.
Council member Nina Chrzanowski called Doyle’s retirement a “sad day for Tullytown and the police department.”
Although Tullytown Borough is among the smaller full-time police departments in Bucks County, it has long has a good reputation among law enforcement agencies.

Residents often have complimented the police department for its responsiveness and handling of large incidents, including major crimes and St. Michael’s Fair.
No replacement for Doyle has been announced.

The Tullytown Borough Police Department is made up of a mix of part- and full-time officers. Sgt. Andrew Bunda leads the department’s patrol operations.
The next chief will take over a during time of change for the borough as it deals with the loss of revenue for from the Waste Management landfill that closed within its borders several years ago. Impact fees from that facility helped bolster the borough’s budget for years.

The municipality has been without a permanent borough coordinator to manage operations for several years, but recently appointed secretary Patricia Marks to fill the role on a temporary basis.
