After Recent Incidents, Falls Twp. To Add Cameras To Community Park

Falls Township’s largest park will be getting a security camera system after a series of recent incidents.

Falls Township Community Park will be getting 12 cameras installed throughout the property.

At last week’s Falls Township Board of Supervisors meeting, the body voted 3-0 to give a contract to Armour and Sons Electric to purchase and install the system. The contract is for $96,500. Supervisors Jeff Boraski and Brian Galloway were not in attendance at the meeting.  

Falls has experienced “pretty significant instances” in recent years at the park, according to Supervisors Chairman Jeff Dence, which justifies the requirement for cameras.

The township has seen a near-drowning of a child at the lake at the park, a water rescue, and an extensive search in 2019 after concern a boater went in the water.

The cameras won’t be monitored around the clock, but give township employees and emergency responders access to cameras remotely will be of assistance in resolving situations swiftly and pinpointing precise locations, Dence said.

Township officials had tried to add cameras in the past, but the plan never unfolded.

Falls Township installed cameras at Quaker Penn Park in 2019.
