Truman Class Of 2022 Was ‘Tiger Strong’

The stands were filled with family and friends as the sunny day gave way to the Wednesday evening of celebration for the Harry S. Truman High School’s 408 graduates.

A balmy and breezy atmosphere was filled with the hope and happiness of the Bristol Township seniors as they took the field for their ceremony, listening to words of support and praise from faculty, staff, and fellow students.

Some of the best advise came from their peers, starting with Senior Class President Dalia Gumaa, who charged her classmates to “always stick to tradition, but never be traditional,” reminding everyone to think outside the box, but remember where they came from as they go forward in life.

Salutatorian Desiree Rivers’ advice was not to forget everything they learned.

“So when you toss your hat, don’t toss everything you’ve learned along with it,” she said.

But the best advice came from Valedictorian Angelina Wang.

“To be a leader, recognize that the obstacles in your lives are not roadblocks. An effective leader is an individual who prioritizes personal development; they embrace challenges as opportunities for self-improvement and greater success,” Wang told her peers.

Success, after all, is often built on these challenges and failures one faces in life, and she reminded her peers not to dwell on those mistakes but to learn and grow from them.

As the students made their way to the stage and received their diplomas, cheers rose from the gathered crowd for everyone in turn, with many waves from the graduates to their families.

The sun slowly set over another successful Bristol Township class, proving through the obstacles of high school they are all “Tiger Strong.”
