Bristol High School Graduates 139th Class

As the sun set over the football field behind Bristol Borough High School, the 139^th class took to the risers for the 2022 commencement on Tuesday evening.

The 77 graduates and their families enjoyed a temperate evening to celebrate the completion of school and their accomplishments in these trying times through the pandemic and upheavals of these modern times.

“We are here, and this is out moment,” Class President Solita Vasquez said.

She opened with a heartfelt welcome and personal story about her time in the borough school system, reminding her fellow students how special they are. Pointing out how difficult things seemed to be right in the middle of their education, the class and faculty pulled together and persevered through virtual classes and other difficulties to finish strong, “because that’s what true Bristol Warriors do.”

Interim Superintendent Dr. Thomas Shaffer charged the students to prove they are “truly a member of a great generation.” He commended the students on their hard work through the trying times, showing they have the strength to make a difference in the world they are entering.

“Remember, appreciation is a wonderful thing, and always remember to thank the people who help you in big and small ways,” was the advice of Valedictorian Delaney Slate as she thanked teachers, staff, family, and friends for their support.

With the addresses over, the Bristol tradition of presenting roses brought hugs and tears into the audience as the students came forward and delivered the flowers to their waiting relatives.

Next came the announcement of awards for class, listing the roughly $1.1 million awarded to the students in grants and scholarships in various amounts. Diplomas were handed out and Principal Nick Nastasi declared the class of 2022 officially matriculated.
