Langhorne Bank Branch Closes

A longtime bank branch in Langhorne Borough has closed.

At the end of April, the Penn Community Bank location at the corner of South Bellevue and West Richardson avenues shut its doors. The bank announced to customers leading up to the closure that is was planned for the end of April.

A bank spokesperson said the branch closure was part of Penn Community Bank’s ongoing look at their operations.

“After careful analysis of trends in customer usage and overlap in coverage areas, the decision was made to close the Langhorne Branch (126 S. Bellevue Ave., Langhorne) and move accounts to our Highland Park Branch (16 Highland Park Way, Levittown) – less than three miles away,” the spokesperson told LevittownNow.com.

The locally-owned and -operated bank also operates nearby locations in Bensalem Township, Bristol Borough, Newtown Township, Lower Makefield Township, Upper Southampton Township, and Tullytown Borough. The bank operates more than 20 facilities in the region.

“Team members from the Langhorne Branch have been relocated to surrounding locations, and there have been no jobs lost as a result of the branch closure,” the spokesperson said.

Penn Community Bank, created in 2015 by joining together both First Federal of Bucks County of Bristol Borough and First Savings Bank of Perkasie, has been in growth mode in recent years. They recently opened a new branch in Montgomery County and have looked at expansion in the Lehigh Valley.

Penn Community Bank is the largest independent mutual bank in the region, with $2.6 billion in assets, according to the financial institution.
