Bristol Township police and school district security are investigating a threat at Neil A. Armstrong Middle School.

Officers were called in the mid-afternoon Tuesday to the school on Wistar Road in Bristol Township’s Fairless Hills section for a report of a written threat discovered in a bathroom.
Students were locked down in their classrooms for some time as authorities looked into the threat. Details on the exact nature of the threat were not released.
Police Sgt. C.J. Winik said the written threat “didn’t appear credible.”

“Police stood by during dismissal to ensure the safety of the students after a brief lockdown,” he added.
“Students were all dismissed safely at the end of the school day. Law enforcement deemed the threat as unsubstantiated and Armstrong will be open tomorrow. Administrators and school police/security will be visible throughout the day,” said Bristol Township School District spokesperson Kellie Dietrich.

The district and police said they will continue to look into the threat.

Just after 2 p.m., parents received an email from school officials with the following information:
There was a safety concern at Armstrong Middle School this afternoon. The police are at the school investigating the situation. Students and staff are currently secured in their classrooms. The police are currently not allowing parents to pickup up students. We will update you shortly regarding dismissal procedures.
